The objects of The Howie Smith Project
Limited: are to carry on activities which are for a socially beneficial
purpose and in particular (without limitation) to obtain use of empty
and disused property, developing space for creative and artistic pursuit,
providing opportunity for community use, exhibitions, events, workshops
and education in arts related practices.
The Company is established for a
social enterprise and not established or conducted for private gain:
any profits or assets are not distributed as dividends, but are used
principally for social enterprise purposes to support the objects of
Robert Howie Smith is currently
studying as an PHD academic researcher with the Department of Geography,
Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Birmingham. His subject
matter 'Urban Regeneration and the Creative Community' is allowing him
to understand alternate methods to approach urban regeneration as a
Social Enterprise where he is managing several exploratory case studies;
creative spaces for the benefit of the creative community, arts and
education, working alongside local artists and with (and sometimes against)
differing authoritative approaches to the formation of a Cultural Quarter
in Nottingham and Leicester.
